Free, No Really...It's FREE!

I'm always amazed at people's reaction to FREE stuff!  Over the course of the Summer we have been suprising folks in The Colony by serving, discounting, sharing and simply giving things away for FREE! Recently, we gave away tickets to Hawaiian Falls for only $5 a pop and the response was amazing.  People flooded our church doors and asked, "Are you sure it's only $5", "why are you doing this" and "what's the catch"?  But our service as Christians is with no strings attached.  We don't serve one another for what we hope to gain, but because it's the right way to live.  

Every Saturday morning this Summer we have been out serving The Colony.  In a few weeks we plan to buy-down gasoline at the pump, give out quarters at laundrymats and bake fresh cookies to deliver at Wal-Mart to which another group of people will no doubt ask the question... why? And our answer is simple: to share the love of Christ to a community that needs to experience it. 

Jesus was a revolutionary that served in radical ways!  We have this miscontrued vision of a mild-mannered effiminate Messiah, walking around in a white robe, hair flowing, with quiet speech and slow movements.  But the biblical picture is much different.  He was a strong, blue collar carpenter that learned his fathers trade.  He hung out with sinners and prostitutes and threw parties for some of the most despised in society.  And he was preaching a gospel that was radically different from anything the other religious leaders were teaching.  He preached a gospel that proclaimed that grace and love and service...and salvation was FREE! 

We hope to bless you this Summer through our service to this community and our proclaimed message of a radical guy named Jesus that came to this world, served and died in order that you might be FREE!
