A Sneak Peak at Horizons...
Thanks for visiting our website! If you would like to get a sneak peak at one of our worship services, then keep reading! On Sunday mornings we meet in the gymnasium of Griffin Middle School. Our worship is primarily contemporary but we frequently play hymns and choruses that reflect the deeper history of the Church. We have a grandma on keyboard, southern rocker on guitar, teenager on bass, a moonlighting DJ on drums and a Latino playing acoustic guitar. Our worship leader is a young upstate New York native that loves old hymns. Did I mention we are a diverse church?
Our services are casual and comfortable. We have wonderful flourescent gymnasium lights that provide a beautiful ambiance (joking) to worship. Our teaching is rooted in Scripture and applicable to everyday life. We are striving to create a family of people that understand and accept one another regardless of economical, racial, generational or musical differences. Above all, we want to glorify God and stay focused on his mission to become more like Christ and see THIS community become more like his kingdom. Services typically last anywhere from 75-90 minutes. One more thing, we just acquired some chairs that have actual cushions on them so "no more folding chairs"!
Horizons Church is an evangelical ministry affiliated with The Wesleyan Church and committed to following the way of Jesus Christ. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life and our mission and vision are rooted in a desire to further God's kingdom. There you go! Guys Night Out (M10)
Men of Horizons...UNITE! We are planning a night of food, folks and fun as we join the men of Horizons Church for pool, Texas Hold-Em, games, a bonfire and much more. The evening begins at 6:00 pm at the home of Jim Hamilton, 6569 Westway Dr. in The Colony.
FAM JAM (M11)
This Mothers Day, May 11th at 10:30 am, we hope you join us at Griffin Middle School for a fun production called FAM JAM! We will be honoring all mothers in attendance and look forward to a great day of music, awards, skits, dramas, songs, and more!
GIANT Yard Sale (M3)
On Saturday morning May 3rd in the Big Lots parking lot we are planning a giant yard sale to raise funds for our Children's Camp this Summer. Our goal is to raise $2000. Please stop by!
Movie in The Park (M2)
Join us Friday, May 2nd for our next Movie in the Park. Last month we had 800-1000 people in attendance! We will be gathering at the Five-Star Complex at 8:00 pm for Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Admission is FREE and concessions are available. See you there!
Horizons University (A30)
Horizons U. is an opportunity to take college level courses on Biblical Studies, Theology, and a wide variety of other topics. Our first class will begin April 16th from 7-8 pm and we will be studying Systematic Theology I. This will be an overview of basic theological themes. Classes are held at Christ Community Church in the Colony.
